About:APlus+ Deans List Inc. Professional Development and Educational Consulting

The APlus+ Deans List was founded in 2019 as a vision brought to life by Dr. Angelic Dean, who had been providing training and professional development through various platforms for years. Her goal was to create an organization that could support individuals in developing the skills needed to gain employment and to set meaningful short- and long-term personal and professional goals.

 

In addition to individual support, APlus+ Deans List is committed to helping organizations grow and strengthen their leadership capacity, improve workplace culture and climate, and inspire teams through intentional self-care and motivational leadership. A special emphasis is placed on supporting high school students, particularly those from first-generation college families, by helping them navigate post-secondary opportunities and career pathways. Group training sessions are also offered to equip students with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed. Dr. Dean expanded the organization's services to include educational consulting, following the completion of her doctorate in K-12 Organizational Leadership and her work within schools. Her research centers on the secondary trauma experienced by educators and aims to identify the personal, school, and district-level supports needed to sustain those who serve students facing significant challenges. Dr. Dean's goal is to create liberated spaces. Spaces for healing, understanding, and transformation.  Spaces where educators are able to be whole and students can operate as their authentic selves. 

Professionally, Dr. Dean has held impactful roles with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, Community Properties of Ohio – Resident Services, and The Ohio State University. While at OSU, she led efforts to strengthen school-family-community partnerships through the Community Collaboration Model for School Improvement in a Linden-area elementary school. Her work involved advocating for students and families, ensuring that necessary resources and supports were in place, and fostering partnerships that contributed to academic achievement. She has successfully increased caregiver engagement, conducted gap analyses to remove barriers to success, and collaborated to build strong networks of community support. Currently, Dr. Dean serves as a school leader, where her focus includes behavior supports, family engagement, partnership development, and school culture and climate. At the heart of her leadership is a desire to create a school community where the well-being of both students and staff is prioritized.

Dr. Dean is deeply committed to community service. Since 2011, she has been a dedicated volunteer staff member with the Linden McKinley Marching Band, offering mentorship, coaching, and alumni engagement while promoting the band through positive media outreach. She serves on the board of the Joseph L. Earley Foundation, an organization that supports single-parent households with scholarship opportunities. She is also the immediate past president of the Ohio University Ebony Bobcat Network, Columbus Affiliate; a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio; and an active volunteer with For The Love of Dance School. In 2016, she was honored as an Emerging Leader Nominee by Godman Guild and is a proud alumna of the United Way of Central Ohio’s Project Diversity Program, a leadership development initiative for emerging leaders of color preparing for board service.

Dr. Dean earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio University in 2009, followed by an M.S. in Student Affairs and Higher Education from Indiana State University in 2012. In June 2024, she completed her Ed.D. in K-12 Organizational Leadership from Franklin University.

Above all, Angelic is a proud wife to her husband Leachuin and a devoted mother to their two children, Isiah and McKenzie.
